Bannu: A group of terrorists launched an attack on the Bannu Cantonment on Tuesday, attempting to breach its security, according to reports. Security forces swiftly responded, successfully repelling the assault.
According to Human Online sources, suicide bombers drove two explosive-laden vehicles into the main entrance of the cantonment, triggering powerful explosions. Following the blasts, multiple armed attackers attempted to storm the facility. However, security forces effectively stopped them.
Human Online sources further reported that the attackers tried to break through the boundary wall to create an entry point, but their efforts were thwarted. The attack caused significant damage to nearby houses and a mosque, resulting in the deaths of multiple civilians, including five children, while several others were injured.
Although official statements have yet to be released, a video shared by Khorasan Diary on social media platform X showed plumes of smoke rising from the area, with gunfire heard in the background.
Later that night, officials confirmed that the death toll rises to 12 while 32 injured were reported.
